jose arguelles vs. the *real* mayan calender

Hey, There's been alot of discussion lately over here in Oz about the difference b/n Jose Arguelle's 13 Moon calender and the *real* mayan count as put out there by the Mayan elders. And I've noticed that Jose has distanced himself from using the word 'mayan' on new publications etc. This is causing lots of confusion etc. What do other people think about the disparity of the two? It seems that Jose channelled his version and the other is from the mayan heritage.... any ideas on books that might look at the *real* mayan calender? For myself, I've had lots of experience with the Jose version, and something always didn't sit quite right intuitively about it, and then later it was pointed out to me that it wasn't the real calender. Thoughts???? cheers, Meri xx

I know. Jose was my way in but Calleman & Lungold (see the other posters link) opened new doors and reminded me not to follow one man's mind too far.

Ultimately, I think the whole point of the Mayan calendar is to demonstrate the predictable and amazing evolution of consciousness. It certainly makes a lot of sense out of the weird and horrendous shit that is manifesting in our world at this time (Bush/Blair/Sharon junta).

Even Calleman points to a zenith date of Oct 2011, not Dec 2012. Everyone has a view. No one knows for sure, except some real-deal shamans wandering about in the jungles of our world. And they'd probably tell you it doesn't matter. What happens will happen exactly as it is meant to.

Hunbatz Men's "Secrets of Mayan Science and Religion."

I would also highly recommend finding a way to study with him. His journeys are rich and meaningful.

I just returned from my second trip studying and doing energy work with him in the Yucatan. Once again, the journey has forever changed my life. The effects in my daily life, my business, and my personal life of my first trip with him were amazing...and I've only been back a week from the second journey and, already, the universe has shown me clearly the rewards from this work.

I will be returning again in March with a group from around the world, and hope to see some of you there! This trip will focus on the Spring Equinox, and classes will cover Mayan cosmology and calendars, while ceremonies and rituals will be led at sacred sites like Dzibilchatun, Uxmal, and Chichen Itza. Natural wonders of the Yucatan will also be explored, including the Cave of Balankanche. See the link below for more information:

A calendar is only as "real" as its practitioner wants it to be.
      Like a dream.
A real calendar is also a synchronometer. Without exception!
The conflict is between the synchronic calendar and the dissynchronous Gregorian calendar.
We don't really grok that yet.
The real practice of 13 moons is weaning the sleepers away from the nightmare of linear time because the future is more dream like than our time will allow us to believe.
The future is nurture. Simple as that. 13:28:364+1
      But who is counting....?
